There are now 8 new Hawaiian dresses in a new, yet familiar, style…full-length spaghetti. There are 2 prints in 4 colors per print. We are still waiting for a preview of the second style dress which the manufacturer promised was “coming soon”, whatever that means.
New Ruffle Shoulder Muumuu
The Royal Hibiscus Blue Ruffle Shoulder Muumuus are coming out of production and are being prepped for general availability. In our previous post we showed the regular muumuu, shirt, and spaghetti dress. This muumuu will be available in 4 colors (blue, black, cream, and white) within a few days.

New Hawaiian Shirts and Dresses
One of our manufacturers surprised us with several new shirts, dresses, and muumuus (available in white, blue, black, and cream). These prints are currently available in the men’s shirt, long spaghetti dress, and muumuu. As future production unfolds, they will also be available in the long tank dress, spaghetti flounce summer dress, and maybe one or two more styles.
Although the blue version is similar to the Haleiwa blue print, early feedback from customers is that they prefer this one over the Haleiwa version. Time will tell which one proves to be more popular.

Hawaiian Shirt Shrinkage Test
Many of you are probably wondering how much your new shirt or dress will shrink after you put it through the washer and dryer. We decided to run a test on a typical 100% cotton Hawaiian shirt to see what kind of shrinkage you might experience. We washed it in cold water, dried it in the dryer at low heat, then ironed it with steam to take out the wrinkles. The results were a bit surprising. In a nutshell, the shirt shrank only in the length (or height) and did not affect the chest or shoulder measurements. Read more about our Hawaiian shirt shrinkage test here. We will run more tests on other shirts and dresses in different materials and styles in the weeks to come.

100% cotton shirt shrinks about 3% in height after wash/dry/iron

Spy Photo – Upcoming Hawaiian Dress Style
OK, it’s not really a spy shot, but the manufacturer did show us pre-production sample of one of their upcoming Hawaiian dresses. This pic was taken with a cell phone camera so it’s not of the best quality. We put a picture of the matching Hawaiian shirt next to it to give you a better idea of what color the dress should be. This new dress style has adjustable straps and a short back zipper. This style will only be made in the new rayon prints that will be coming out between now and January 2010. There is a second style that is under development and we hope to snag a picture of it soon.
